Zero Waste to Landfill & Zero Waste efforts !
At Philoxenia Hotel, we like to keep our precious planet clean and make it even greener. We show great care for the environment, especially in terms of waste and drinking water management and reduction of food waste.
As the title suggests, Zero Waste to Landfill is a philosophy of reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
Although 'Zero' is used, not all waste types can be otherwise processed and may end up in landfill. The main point is that companies aim towards reducing their landfill usage significantly, with at least 99% of waste diverted from landfill.
Through exploring alternative solutions of disposal or further use, the initiative helps waste producers understand and better value their waste - hence our motto "Waste Matters"! Additionally, diverting waste from landfill and maximising its potential can help businesses cut costs and increase process efficiency.
Zero Waste is a social commitment to making lifestyle changes and to adopting natural sustainable systems where waste material becomes a resource. As the saying goes: 'One man's trash is another man's treasure!
The main objective of our Hotel and restaurants is to reduce waste and prevent the release of harmful substances into the air, water and ground. These can in turn pose a risk to human and animal health as well as burden our planet and its ecosystems. In our effort to become a Zero Waste hotel we act according to green management guidelines. These allow us to achieve a closer connection with the local environment and contribute to higher guest and employee satisfaction.
